An 18-year-old Florida woman has been arrested after reportedly using her infant son to beat up her boyfriend.
The incident reportedly happened at roughly 4:30 p.m. on Daytona Beach, according to Bay News 9.
Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Captain Tammy Marris told local news outlets that responders had discovered 18-year-old Tatyana Allen battering her boyfriend with her 6-month-old child, ABC reports.
According to Marris, the child was transported to a local hospital on the afternoon of July 4. He was then said to be doing OK.
Witnesses to the incident said they saw Allen walk up to her boyfriend and punch him in the face several times. Allen then reportedly grabbed the baby and used him "like a bat" on her boyfriend, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
She then dropped the infant face-down in the sand, after which the boyfriend picked the child up.
Investigators were told by witnesses that Allen was "extremely rough with the baby," with the infant's head also striking a railing while Allen walked up the stairs to the boardwalk.
Allen is originally from Orange County and was arrested by police on charges of battery and infliction of physical/mental injury on a child.
As of the evening of July 4, Allen was being held without bail, and it is currently unknown whether or not she has an attorney.
Allen reportedly told investigators that her boyfriend had been abusing her in the past and had pushed her several times on July 4 already when he refused to walk to the bathroom with her, according to the police report.
