Woman Sets House On Fire Trying To Kill Spider

| by Jonathan Wolfe

Some people really hate spiders and are absolutely terrified at the thought of one crawling around their house.

Take this woman from Hutchinson, Kansas, for example. Ginny M. Griffith, 34, nearly burned her duplex to the ground over the weekend after trying to kill a spider with fire.

According to police, Griffith spotted the arachnid in her home and decided it would be a good idea to burn it to death. Griffith allegedly lit towels on fire and then tried to throw the towels on the spider.

Big surprise: Her house caught on fire.

Five fire department units had to be called to the home to extinguish the flames. Because the other half of the duplex was occupied when Griffith started the fire, she was arrested and charged with aggravated arson. She is currently being held in lieu of $7,500 bond.

Moral of the story: Fly swatters work for spiders too.
