A woman from Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, was evicted from a local Walmart after police discovered she had been living in the store for two days without anyone noticing.

The 45-year-old woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was reportedly found by employees sitting in a chair with a laptop on her lap and her headphones in her ears. They reportedly told her she had to leave the premises and she refused, telling them she had nowhere to go, reports WNEM.

The woman reportedly told police she had been living with her son but that he kicked her out because of her drinking problem. Employees failed to notice her until they spotted her on the store’s security cameras two days later, reports ABC 7.

A family member eventually picked her up at the store.

A Walmart representative says they do not take the security of their stores lightly and that shoppers were never in danger.

But Detective Matt Harburn said this incident should serve as a reminder for employees to be more mindful of what is going on with customers in their store.

"I would hope that it wouldn't take 48 hours to call us, that if someone's sleeping in the restroom or if someone is homeless in their store, that they'd call us right away so we could handle it appropriately. Then either arrest them or find them help, some place to stay," Harburn said.
