A Wisconsin kindergarten teacher has been sentenced to two years in jail for having a sexual affair with a 16-year-old male.
In October, Elizabeth Dillett pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual assault of a child by a person who works or volunteers with children, reports the Daily Mail.
On Dec. 2, the boy’s father told the court: “She preyed on my son and used our friendship for access to him. ... I blame myself for trusting her. ... We have recognized that our son believed that he was in a healthy relationship. His opinions regarding relationships has become distorted since this incident.”
Dillett has sent texts to the father saying she would “do anything to keep her name out of the public.”

Before being placed on paid leave in April, she was the athletic director at St. Peter-Immanuel Lutheran School, where she also taught kindergarten.
The victim, who was not a current student at the school, began having sex with Dillett in February, including an encounter inside the school in March, says Daily Mail.
Dillett apologized in court to the victim’s family and to her own. “I broke your trust and our friendship. I know I crossed the line with your son and your family and it was very inappropriate of me.”
Judge Joseph Donald, in issuing the verdict, told Dillett: “I am certain that you were well aware of where it was and how dangerous this was. How irresponsible this was. ... You're loved, respected and cherished. But for some reason you either lost sight of that or couldn't accept it."

Cases like this are nothing new, however. The website Zimbio, for example, has published a list of “The 50 Most Infamous Female Teacher Sex Scandals.”
The most famous case is undoubtedly that of Mary Kay Letourneau, the teacher who was arrested for raping one of her students, Vili Fualaau, in 1997. After being released from prison in 2004, the two were married in a highly publicized wedding ceremony.
Recently, they hosted a “Hot For Teacher Night” at a Seattle bar, reports Zimbio. The event was named after the Van Halen song which so offended Tipper Gore, ex-wife of then-Sentator Al Gore, that in 1985 she formed the Parent’s Music Resource Council to lobby the recording industry about creating a ratings system to label “obscene” records, according to the Van Halen News Desk.
