A 24-year-old woman was a victim of vandalism and racial attacks after moving into a new apartment. The victim, Sammie Sunter, had recently relocated to a new building with her two young sons. Her attackers apparently took issue with Sunter’s skin tone, claiming the building was “for black sisters and brothers.”
According to Metro, a note that read “This area is black so fuck off” was stuck through Sunter’s door. Her door was also allegedly covered in paint and feces as a part of the attack. Other notes, including some with Nigerian slang, were also left outside Sunter's new home. The incident took place five days after Sunter moved in.

“These people make Willenhall out to be some sort of ghetto,” Sunter said, “They say it’s their area but it’s really not — there’s a little old white man living in the flat below.”
Sunter, who is still living at the same building in Willenhall in Coventry, England, claimed that the incident made her discuss the difficult concept of racism with her children. “I had to explain racism to my five-year-old. It’s just not acceptable. He wanted to know why they hated us. I told him that whoever was responsible was going to get punished, but who knows if that will happen,” Sunter said.
Local law enforcement officials are currently investigating the attack, regarding it a “racially-aggravated criminal damage.” Carmel McCarthy, director of housing and neighborhood services, also offered to relocate Sunter following the attacks. “As soon as Ms. Sunter drew this incident to our attention, we offered her another home, which she will be moving into shortly,” McCarthy told the Daily Mail, “We have been working closely with Ms. Sunter and the police on this incident and will continue to do so.”
