Police in the Los Angeles area say they found the abandoned car of a missing 28-year-old woman on Jan. 24, two days after she was last seen in her Hollywood Hills apartment.

Authorities say a tow truck driver in Antelope Valley spotted Laura Lynne Stacy's locked car on a remote street with no keys inside, reports KTLA.

Laura's parents quickly flew out from Colorado after hearing about their daughter's disappearance.

"It's been a nightmare and I just want to be woken up from a bad dream," said her mother, Marcy Stacy. "A lot of people love her and praying for her and want her home safely."

They believe Laura may have temporarily left her car get help after running out of gas, but officials have not yet confirmed whether that is a likelihood.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Detective Tim O'Quinn says it's possible somebody may have also given her a ride after leaving her car, but they are still investigating.

Helicopters are searching the area, while loved ones are using their own cars to try to find her.

“We’re going to be out searching all morning and we’d love to get as many people out to help us as possible," Marcy said.

While officials are not ruling it out, so far there has been no evidence of foul play.

Earlier, authorities say they found the missing woman's phone in a puddle about 30 miles away in Santa Clarita's Golden Valley Park.

Laura, who is originally from Colorado, is studying to be a realtor and her parents say she is passionate about photography and the arts.

Inspirational quotes are scattered around the Laura's Facebook profile, possibly reflecting a passion for social good.

"In a society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act," reads one of the quotes she has posted.

"What if we all love each other," reads another.

"She's sweet, kind, and hopefully she's out there and sees this and calls us," Marcy said, KNBC reports. "We really want to find her and find her safe. A lot of prayers for her."

Laura is 5 feet 8 and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She is blond with blue eyes.

Police are asking those with further information to contact the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Person's Unit.
