The mother of a 2-year-old North Carolina girl who was killed has been charged in the child’s death. Her boyfriend has also been charged. But what’s even more disturbing are images the mom ordered from an unsuspecting photographer.

Jeanie Ditty, 23, an active soldier at Fort Bragg, was detained on March 24. Her boyfriend, Zachary Keefer, 32, surrendered to authorities on March 25. The pair are indicted for first-degree murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury resulting in the death of Ditty’s daughter, 2-year-old Macy Grace.

In court on March 28, the two suspects appeared before District Attorney Billy West in court in Fayetteville.

The case dates back to Dec. 2, 2015, when the cops were called to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in response to an unconscious child, reports WNCN.

Macy arrived at the hospital covered in bruises and medical staff concluded that she suffered from fatal wounds consistent with child abuse. The little girl was transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, where officers said her injuries were inflicted within 24 hours of the child being rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

West said the wounds inflicted on Macy were “homicidal.”

“This is a truly innocent victim and we are going to do everything we can to get justice for this child,” West said after the court appearance on March 28.

Macy died from her injuries on Dec. 4, 2015, and the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the child’s death a homicide on March 23. The next day, Fayetteville authorities charged Ditty and Keefer.

Exactly a month after Macy’s death, Ditty ordered photos depicting her daughter as an angel at her grave, according to Daily Mail. The 23-year-old mother went to Pennsylvania photographer Sunny Jo and asked for images of her reading, walking and sitting with Macy. She had reportedly told Jo that Macy died from choking on a banana.

“I then felt disgusted by what I had done," Jo told Daily Mail after the photo shoot. "People started calling me a mockery and I started to lose sleep over what happened.

“I look like the bad guy, even though initially did it to help out a grieving mother. It blew up in my face.

“It’s hard knowing your work is attached to something so brutal."

Ditty and Keefer are set to appear in court again on April 14.
