A North Carolina man is pressing charges against his child’s day care after a teacher reportedly scrubbed his son’s face with a brush and soap.
When Agustin Luna picked up his son, also named Agustin, from Little Angels Preparatory School in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, he found him with red sores all over his face, WTVD reported.
Agustin and his little brother had drawn on each other with magic marker the night before the incident.
"I washed them at home, it don't come off," Luna told WTVD. "I couldn't take the marker off their skin."
When Luna dropped the boys off at day care, he told the teacher about the magic marker incident. Luna had no idea the teacher would then take matters into her own hands.
Agustin told his father the teacher scrubbed his face with a brush and soap. He said the teacher wouldn’t stop even as he was crying.
"I told him, 'Why didn't you run away from her?'" Luna recalled. "He said, 'She was holding me. She was holding me in my arm and I told her to stop, I told her that it was hurting me.' And she said, 'No, stop crying!''"
Luna took his son to the hospital. He then filed a police report and called an attorney.
The following day, Luna received a phone call from the teacher. The teacher said she would never intentionally hurt Agustin.
"She was crying, apologizing to me," Luna said. "She said, 'Mr. Luna, forgive me. Forgive me.'"
Still, Luna believes the injury was intentional. He said he can’t help but get emotional when he looks at his son’s face.
"I feel so bad," Luna said. “I mean, I feel so bad. I don't know, man. I don't want this to happen to another child.”
The owners of the day care told WTVD they believe the teacher was only trying to help the boy, not hurt him.
