Appearances matter. If you are old, you will get a different reaction from people than a young person would. If you are healthy, you will get a different reaction from people than a disabled person would. In a perfect world, everyone would be treated the same way, but we do not live in that world at the moment.

The message here is clear: people with disabilities are still people. You don’t need to hug them or kiss them, but don’t avoid them either – just show them the same courtesy you would show anyone else.
