This weekend, seven NFL players joined 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in protesting the national anthem. Then, in a game between the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers, players from both teams put on an incredible display.

During the national anthem, players and staff from the teams did more than just stand for the national anthem -- they went onto the field to hold up the American flag with members of the armed forces.

On social media, there was an outpouring of support for the two teams.

"Just watched the National [Anthem] played at the @Redskins and @steelers game," one user wrote on Twitter. "Good to see 2 teams full of good examples."

"Good to see that none of the redskins or steelers player took a knee during the national anthem," another user wrote.

Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden spoke about the team's relationship with the military.

"We take very much pride in our relationship with the military. We went to Andrews Air Force Base the other day and everybody that was there stayed after, signed some autographs," Gruden said, notes 247 Sports.

The coach added, "The fans came out in a big way, and the military presentation, Rob O’Neill, that gives you goosebumps all the way. The way the players took advantage, took part in it. That was fun to watch,” notes The Washington Post.
