A 19-year-old in New Zealand was sentenced March 4 to 15 months in prison after violently attacking a 6-month-old puppy.
Logan Smoor was also banned from owning animals for the rest of his life after pleading guilty to animal abuse, Newstalk ZB reports.
The attack by Smoor was called one of the worst cases of animal cruelty seen by the Canterbury SPCA.
The puppy, Kia, had 11 fractures all over her body and was unable to eat, drink or go to the bathroom.
Smoor also admitted to killing his pet rat by slamming it into its cage, Stuff.co.nz reports.
Additionally, the judge issued a protection order for a woman who was allegedly punched, scratched with a knife and burned with a lighter by Smoor.
