At the Topsfield Fair, on Friday night in Topsfield, Massachusetts, Ron Wallace’s giant pumpkin broke the world record at 2,009 pounds (video below).
Wallace told CBS Boston: “It’s really a labor of love. From when you plant the seeds in April until you pick it. There is some great pumpkins here, I am just honored to be in the conversation."
Wallace won $15,500 in prize money, including $5,500 for first place and an $10,000 prize for the largest pumpkin over 2,000 pounds.

Jim O’Brien, General Manager of the Topsfield Fair, told CBS Boston: "It was very exciting to watch the number on the scale climb to over the 2,000 pound mark. We are very proud that the new world record was set in Topsfield and we hope everyone comes to see this incredible pumpkin on display at the Topsfield Fair."
