A video posted by a French nurse of newborn twins shows two babies hugging with their eyes closed as they took a bath for the very first time.
The video was posted on YouTube a week ago and has since been viewed by more than 5 million people.
According to the Daily Mail, the newborn twins’ nurse Sonia Rochel, a midwife based in Paris, says her reason for posting the video was to showcase a new bathing technique for babies called “Thalasso Baby Spa.” The technique is used for babies to imitate the feeling of being in the womb.
"They’re already born, but they might not know it yet,” Today.com noted. “This video of a unique bath is offering an amazing look at what life must like for twins in the womb, with the babies cuddling and embracing as if they were still in their mom’s belly."
In an interview posted on French website Omum.com in June 2012, 51-year-old Rochel said she thought of this method of bathing after she took a shower and realized that it felt great to have water run on her face.
So she tried it on the newborn babies and was not surprised to see that they reacted like they do in the womb.
“The babies’ amazing response to the water is always beautiful to see,” she told the Daily Mail.
The Thalasso Bath is intended for infants younger than two months old and Rochel warns parents not to try copying it at home.
Viewers cannot stop gushing over the video, with one commenter saying: “I think [the twins] are just incredibly at peace here: warm water and very close to each other gives them the soothing feeling they endured for 40 weeks and what they are used to.”
Another woman said, “Amazing, makes me want to make a baby.”
