Victoria Beckham has sparked controversy on the internet after posting a photograph to Instagram which shows the mother sharing a kiss with her 5-year-old daughter, Harper.
Beckham took the photo for Harper's 5th birthday, according to CNN.
The picture set off a social media backlash against Beckham over what many users saw to be an inappropriate picture.

"This is disgusting," one user wrote in response to the photo.
"Eww sorry I'm old fashioned it looks like they making out," wrote another.
According to another user, "..it's nice but you're not supposed to kiss (your) children on the lips. I'm not trying to be rude but it's true."
Entertainment Tonight reports that Liz Brewer, a social etiquette expert, was consulted on the picture. "Normally with a member of your family you don't kiss on the lips unless it's your husband," she said. "I would be uncomfortable doing that and I think most people would be. If she feels it's appropriate, so be it. I wouldn't say it sets a particularly good example."

However, other users voiced their support for Beckham and instead directed their criticisms toward the users who were making a big deal out of Beckham's picture.
"How can people sexualize a woman kissing the baby she gave birth to?" one user wrote.
"It's a frightening day when we live in a world where a parent kissing a child is classed as wrong! What kind of messed up planet is this? She's a fantastic mother and obviously loves her kids immensely!" wrote another.
"There's plenty of things shared on social media which are 'disgusting' however, the unconditional love between a child and parent is certainly NOT one!"
Finally, one user very succinctly wrote: "Horrible things are happening in the world and people are crying over this?!"
Many moms who followed the post and subsequent backlash are sharing pictures of themselves kissing their children to show support for Beckham.
