A body cam video (below) showing University of Cincinnati Police Officer Ray Tensing fatally shooting Sam Dubose, an unarmed African-American man, during a traffic stop on July 19 was released by authorities today.
The video shows Tensing pulling over Dubose for not having front tags on the that car he is driving.
Tensing asks Dubose repeatedly for his driver's license, but Dubose asks the officer to run his name.
Tensing tells Dubose, "Go ahead and take your seatbelt off for me, go and take your seatbelt off."

Tensing's body cam suddenly starts shaking, but he appears to stick his gun inside or near the car and shoot Dubose.
The car accelerates and crashes several feet up the road.
Tensing claimed in his police report that he was “dragged” by the car, which does not happen in the video, notes RawStory.com.
Tensing was charged with murder and voluntary manslaughter, which would be an optional charge for a jury to convict him of, reports Cincinnati.com.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters stated today at a press conference:
This is the most asinine act I've ever seen a police officer make, totally unwarranted. It was, it’s an absolute tragedy in the year 2015 that anyone would behave in this manner. It was senseless. And I met with the family just moments ago. It’s just horrible. People want to believe that Mr. DuBose had done something violent toward the officer. He did not. He did not at all.
Tensing’s defense lawyer, Stew Mathews, claimed that the murder charge was “absolutely unwarranted.”
“Murder is the purposeful killing of another,” Mathews added. “There wasn’t any purpose to kill this fella.”
The University of Cincinnati closed earlier today in case there is any negative reaction on campus to the video.
