Pennsylvania Shooting: One Officer Killed, One Wounded

Two police officers in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, were shot in the early morning of Nov. 10. One of the two officers has died. 

The shooting happened at around 3:30 a.m. in the town 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, the Independent reports. Police are searching for the shooter.

The officer who died was later named as Scott Leslie Bashioum, 52. 

The police officers were answering a call about a domestic incident. A neighbor heard the two gunshots.

The officers were "ambushed upon their arrival" and shot, said Pennsylvania State Trooper Melinda Bondarenka. 

One of the wounded officers was rushed to Canonsburg General Hospital, while the other was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, Sky News reports.

Nearby residents were told to stay inside their homes as a safety precaution. 

Police later said two bodies were found inside the residence. One appeared to have self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Local schools announced they will be opening two hours later than normal on Nov. 10 in response to the incident, reports WTAE. 

No information has been released about what led to the shootings.
