Despite beginning his campaign with controversial anti-Hispanic rhetoric, Donald Trump is currently leading among Hispanic Republican voters — according to a new poll from Florida Atlantic University.
The poll showed Trump leading other candidates among Hispanic voters in the Sunshine State, garnering 54 percent of the vote. Florida Senator Marco Rubio is behind at 15.1 percent, while former Florida governor Jeb Bush is last at 5.5 percent of the vote.
Among all likely Republican voters, Trump garnered 47.6 percent of the vote, with Ted Cruz coming in second with 16.3 percent.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton strengthened her lead in the state, leading Bernie Sanders 62.2 percent to 25.9 percent.
