Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may change his mind about not wanting to raise the federal minimum wage (video below).

"I want [American workers] to earn more money," Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer during an interview posted May 4.

Trump said he is “looking at” raising the current $7.25 hourly federal minimum wage, which goes against previous statements he’s made wherein he said he was happy with that amount.

“I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is,” Trump said during a November debate, according to The Hill.

That same month, he said that the minimum wage was too high and that it was slowing job growth.

"We have to become competitive with the world. Our taxes are too high, our wages are too high, everything is too high," Trump said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. "What's going to happen is now people are going to start firing people."

Trump's statement on possibly changing his stance towards raising the federal minimum wage came after Blitzer brought up Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont’s proposal for it to be $15 an hour.

While a wage hike is something Trump may consider, he claims to be more interested in bringing jobs back to the country so American workers can earn more than minimum wage.

“You have to have something that you can live on,” Trump said during the interview. “But what I'm really looking to do is get people great jobs so they make much more money than that, so they make more money than the $15.”
