Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, believes Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton should be in jail.
"And remember I said I was a counter-puncher?" Trump told a crowd at the San Jose Convention Center in California June 2, CBS News reports. "I am. After what she said about me today and her phony speech... That was a phony speech. That was a Donald Trump hit job. I will say this: Hillary Clinton has to go to jail. She has to go to jail."
Trump was responding to remarks Clinton made during a speech in San Diego, California, about his foreign policy, among other things.
"Donald Trump's ideas aren't just different; they are dangerously incoherent," Clinton said, according to CBS News. "They're not even really ideas, just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies. He is not just unprepared. He is temperamentally unfit to hold an office that requires knowledge, stability and immense responsibility."
Clinton’s campaign touted her speech as a major policy address on national security and foreign policy. A great deal of it focused on attacking Trump’s eligibility to become president.
“He says he has foreign policy experience because he ran the Miss Universe pageant in Russia,” she said.
"Making the right call takes a cool head and respect for the facts," Clinton said. "It takes a willingness to listen to other people's points of view with a truly open mind. It also takes humility, knowing you don't know everything, because if you're convinced you're always right, you'll never ask yourself the hard questions."
Trump called Clinton’s speech “pathetic” and “sad to watch,” while also claiming she has misrepresented him, according to CBS News.
"She's a liar. She made up my foreign policy! She said, 'Donald Trump is going to do this,' [but] I never said that. And, 'Donald Trump is going to do that.' A friend of mine was in the room and said, 'You never said you were going to do that.' I said that's right - she's makes it up. She's a bad person,” he said.
