Pottery filled with dirt and human skull fragments were discovered inside a carry-on bag at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Wednesday (video below).

Two unidentified women flying to Baltimore were carrying luggage to their AirTrain fight when the discovery was made by Transportation Security Administration agents, noted Local 10.

Airport police said that the women were Santeria priestess who had traveled to Cuba and bought the pots at a religious shop for "protection."

No criminal charges were filed as the women were not aware of the bone fragments in the pots, which were sealed, until one of them broke.

“It’s very possible that they had no idea what was inside,” Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Jachles told the Miami Herald. “They were both sealed when they bought them.”

The women were allowed to take the rest of their carry-on items onto their flight to Baltimore on Wednesday night.

The bone fragments were sent to a medical examiner's office for evaluation.
