An unidentified driver, who uses the handle “AfroDuck Productions” on YouTube, recently posted a video of himself speeding around Manhattan in 24 minutes and three seconds.
The video (below) was shot as the driver sped around New York City on August 26.
He claims to have driven 26.5 miles around the city at record speed, even after stopping at six red lights.
He cut cars off and switched between lanes to break the 2010 record of 26 minutes and three seconds, but claims he is not reckless, even though he was going as fast as 66 mph in some parts.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
“Whether you’re a good driver or not, when you’re on the road, you have a high chance of getting hit by a drunk driver, being cut off, especially in New York,” he told Jalopnik.com.
“Being a good driver, you’re more aware of what is around you. Being a fast driver doesn’t mean that you’re inherently a bad or reckless driver. Like I said before, I’m in control. That said, understand traffic patterns, understand what’s around you and understand how others control or don’t control their cars.”
“Other than my car being stocked, I went out various times throughout the night to figure out the traffic patterns. I was always in control. In fact, this wasn’t the first time I broke the record. I can do it consistently under 24 minutes and most likely beat my own record again,” added the mystery driver.
Driving a 2006 BMW Z4.P, he describes his trip on his YouTube page as “starting from 116th St. on the FDR heading downtown, up the Henry Hudson Highway, and back down to 116th St. in just 24 minutes.”
