A transgender woman who died suddenly at 32 was presented as a man at her funeral, a decision made by her father.

Jennifer Gable died after having an aneurysm while working at her customer service job at Wells Fargo in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Oct. 9. Gable’s friends said that she lived as a full-time female and were shocked to see how she was presented by her family at her funeral, the Miami Herald reports.

At the open casket funeral, Gable was dressed in a suit with her hair cut short.

“I am disgusted,” one of Gable’s friends wrote on Facebook following the funeral, according to the Herald. “How can they bury her as Geoff when she legally changed her name. So very sad. Jen you will be missed and people who know you know that you are at peace.”

Not only was Gable presented as a man at her funeral, but in her paid online obituary, there was no mention of her ever being a woman. She was only referred to by her birth name, Geoff:

Geoffrey Charles Gable, 32, Boise, passed away suddenly on October 9 while at his job at Wells Fargo Bank.

He was born in Twin Falls on January 27, 1982 to Anthony Clark Gable and Lori Ann Walton.

Geoff and his brother, Steven, were raised from toddlers by their maternal grandparents, George and Joan Walton.

He attended Morningside Elementary School, O’Leary Junior High and graduated from Twin Falls High School in the year 2000.

He was married to Ann Arthurs in 2005 in Hawaii. They were later divorced.

Geoff grew up as a member of the Twin Falls First Christian Church, where he was baptized in 1996.

The funeral directors were aware that Gable was living as a woman but had no say in the decisions made by the family, according to Mike Park of Magic Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Twin Falls.

“The death certificate says Geoffrey AKA Jennifer Gable,” Park told the Herald. “The last few years she lived as Jennifer. They buried him as Geoff. A tormented situation for all those involved.”
