Thousands of people gathered outside the Pennsylvania home of 8-year-old Delaney “Laney” Brown on Saturday to sing Christmas carols.

Laney was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in May. On Tuesday, her parents announced she only has days or weeks to live.

Laney had a bucket list in which she said she wanted to hear the Reading community sing Christmas carols.

The Reading Eagle estimates 5,000 to 7,000 people packed Laney’s block and began caroling at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. At 8 p.m. they wrapped up with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” – Laney turned eight on Friday.

"I can hear you now!!! Love you!" wrote Laney on her Facebook fan page.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation is working to help Laney make her wishes come true.

Another wish on her bucket list included meeting Taylor Swift, who spoke to Laney via Facetime on her birthday.
