A Wisconsin teenager got the surprise of a lifetime during a traffic stop thanks to her father and a police officer.
In the now viral clip, a police officer in Saukville, Wisconsin, captures the incident involving a 17-year-old girl on his body cam. The officer pulls over Audra Daniloff and tells her that she drove through a stop sign. After the teen gives him her license and registration, the officer walks back to his car.
After a few minutes in his car, the officer returns and presents Daniloff with an amazing surprise.
“I got some good news and some bad news for you, okay?” the officer said. “The bad news, first I am giving you two tickets. But they are not the type of tickets you think. One is a plane ticket to New York. The other is a concert ticket for your favorite band.”
Daniloff was in complete shock and started to get emotional as the officer revealed that he and her father Marc worked together to make the surprise happen.
"This is not a joke," he told her.
“I completely blind sided her thanks to the wonderful help of the Saukville Police Department,” Marc Daniloff told Fox 6 News.
Reports say that Marc wanted to surprise his teenage daughter with the trip to New York after she spent the last year in and out of the hospital after a diagnosis with a rare condition, Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis.
“She had about a 20 percent chance of getting out of there alive,” Marc said of his daughter’s yearlong battle.
Now that she has turned a corner, Marc decided to surprise her with a trip to see her favorite band Timeflies play in New York, and the teenager was even gifted the chance to meet them afterwards.
“I thought it was a great idea. He had given me a little back story on what his daughter had been through and thought that this concert would make her day if she got to go to New York — and we were happy to be a part of that,” Saukville Police Chief Jeffrey Goetz said. “I would argue the fact — [some might say] that we’re wasting our resources. I think that’s exactly what our resources should be used for.”
Audra is still in and out of the hospital to receive treatments for her illness, but her father says that she is expected to make a full recovery with time.
