Paramount Australia has garnered criticism on social media for posting a picture of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jumping out of an exploding building to promote its new action movie, which will be released on Sept. 11.
The company posted the picture to its Twitter page, drawing the attention of some angry individuals who felt the poster was offensive and insensitive, according to the Daily Mail.
Though the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie premieres in the United States in August and in October in Europe, the Australian premiere date falls on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people.
During the attacks, numerous people were seen jumping out of the exploding Twin Towers buildings.

One of the responses on Twitter reads, “So who's getting fired for this poster art? September 11? Exploding buildings? People falling out of them? Le sigh,” from @MorningAfterKill said.
Another Twitter user, @AusFestivus, wrote, “Guys. Sept 11 and exploding buildings is a bad look okay.” @yilmaz16 wrote Really 9/11? Jumping out of an exploding building?”
Paramount has deleted the message off its Twitter, but has not issued a public apology for the image.
