A British teen killed a "model husband and model father" while driving almost 100 mph the day after passing his driving test.

Sean Sullivan, who was 19 at the time, was allegedly driving 100 mph to show off for his friends the day after he got his driver's license. The Welch teen sped around the Gower Peninsula in Swansea, tailgating other drivers before colliding head-first with a car carrying Timothy Malone and Yvonne Howard, Wales Online reports.

Sullivan struck Tim and Yvonne, who have been married for 40 years, when he lost control of his car at 100 mph. Tim was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but went into cardiac arrest on the way and was pronounced dead.

Sullivan reportedly ignored pleas from other drivers to slow down. In court, he pleaded guilty to one count of death by dangerous driving and one count of serious injury by dangerous driving, according to BBC. He has been sentenced to five years in a young offender's institution.

Prosecutor Ian Wright said in court that according to airbag data, Sullivan' car was traveling at 98 mph with a throttle at 100 percent at the time of the crash.

"Essentially, his foot was touching the floorboard," Wright said.

Yvonne spoke in court, saying she was unable to take action to avoid the collision.

"I am haunted by the images of the terrible events of that night -- the last time I saw him," Howard said. "I cannot heal my tattered heart and soul. I go to sleep in sadness and wake up to sadness. My face is wet with tears every day."
