Jourdan Duncan from Vallejo, California, has been walking two hours to and from work every day after his car broke down. When a local cop heard his story, he surprised him with an incredible gift.

Duncan, 19, who works at Pro-Form Laboratories in Benicia, recently found himself in a bit of trouble when his car broke down. In a state like California, which offers very limited public transportation options, he had no choice but to walk to work, according to KTVU.

The trip takes two hours each way. Despite the long commute, he doesn't ask his fellow co-workers for rides.

"I don’t want to feel like I’m a burden to people so I take the initiative to handle myself and where I need to go from point A to point B," he said.

One night, on his way home from work, Police Corporal Kirk Keffer stopped Duncan and asked if he would like a ride. The teen accepted and on the ride home talked about his aspirations of becoming an officer himself.

Keffer, touched by his story and his incredible dedication, went to the Benicia Police Officers Association to see if it was possible to purchase the boy a bike.

"We talked as a union and the board unanimously approved it. And we started the process of purchasing the bike," said Officers Association President James Laughter to KTVU.

Laughter and the rest of the association went to a local bike shop and purchased a mountain bike, a helmet, and a light for Duncan. The teen will also receive free tune-ups.

"There’s not a lot of 18-year-olds out there that have this dedication; we just wanted to make sure he know how much I appreciated what he’s doing," said Keffer.

Duncan was shocked by his gift and says that the bike cuts his commute in half.

"This bike is my best friend," he said. "I love this bike."

The Benicia Police Department shared the story on their Facebook, saying, "You never know someone’s story until you talk to them."

The cop and the gifted bike went viral, with many users touched by the officers' actions. Duncan's mother, Hortencena, commented on the post, saying that the officers' generosity "brought a lump in my throat and just a little moisture to the tear ducts."
