An unidentified 39-year-old teacher's aide was caught on video in a physical altercation with a 14-year-old student at Bay View High School in Milwaukee (video below).
Students told FOX 6 News that the incident happened during biology class.
The video shows the teacher's aide cursing, shoving the teen onto a desk and pinning him down on the floor.
"I was just watching it like, 'This is unreal. I cannot believe this,'" Jacquan-Anthony Wilder, a student, told the news station.
"The student was cussing at him and everything and he was like, 'Come on, let's go in the hallway,'" Angel Quiles, another student, recalled.
"They [were] arguing, kept on arguing and getting into each other's faces," Wilder added.
"First, he pushed him, then he slammed him on the floor and was holding him down," Quiles stated.
The fight was reportedly broken up by school security guards.
The teen was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
The teacher's aide was arrested for child abuse, but many people on the FOX 6 News Facebook page sided with the aide:
I say be fair charge his a-- with something too. He got exactly what he was looking for. You can't say nothing to these kids and they are so disrespectful. I see what the teachers and staff deal with everyday and it's sad.
TODAY'S youth has absolutely no respect at all. As soon as the video starts you can see the kid kicking his leg at the teacher... so the teacher clearly didn't react the way he did for NOTHING. MAYBE if parents actually knew how to parent and teached their kids some god d--- respect... Situations like these wouldn't occur.
The disrespectful punk got what he deserves and somebody needs to bail this teacher out he don't deserve to be locked up for defending himself.
A spokesperson for Milwaukee Public Schools said in a statement:
"MPS finds this incident deeply disturbing. As soon as the school administration was notified of the incident, the Milwaukee Police Department was contacted and the staff member was removed from the classroom.
We are cooperating with MPD. This staff member – who is a paraprofessional (teacher aide) – faces disciplinary action, including termination."
