A 22-year-old man fell to his death despite having changed his mind about taking his own life (video below).

The unnamed man was seen by a crowd of onlookers on top of the bridge, according to the Daily Mail.

A bystander climbed up and managed to persuade the intoxicated man not to commit suicide and to come down.

“A bystander put his own life at risk and decided to climb up and talk the guy down,” a witness said, according to the Mail.

But as the member of the public tried to lead the young man off the bridge, the young man fell forward and plummeted to the ground below.

In the video shot of the incident, onlookers can be heard gasping in shock and asking if he is still alive. One person is heard commenting that the man has broken his neck. Members of the public are seen approaching his body, which lies on the road.

The police are investigating the incident. No information about the man’s background has been provided.

According to Metro, suicide is the second most common cause of death among people aged 10 to 24 in the United States. The figures were published as part of an article on National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, which takes place during September. It also reported that suicide rates and attempted suicides were higher among the LGBTQ community.
