The substance that police found in the bedroom of accused murderer Oscar Pistorius that was originally thought to be testosterone has been identified. Lawyers for “Blade Runner” have revealed that what authorities found was something known as Testis Compositum. They have said that it is an herbal remedy used “in aid of muscle recovery.” It is also known to be used for sexual reasons.
Police found needles along with the substance and incorrectly believed it to be testosterone. They later withdrew that claim and sent the mystery material to the lab to be tested.
Last week in court, Pistorius' defense lawyer Barry Roux said that what police had discovered was not banned by sports authorities. However he did not identify the substance or say what its name was at that time, reports The Belfast Telegraph.
A company named Biologische Heilmittel Heel based in Baden-Baden, Germany, makes Testis Compositum. According to the company’s website, it is one of the world's leading makers of homeopathic combination medications.

A subsidiary of the company based in the U.S., Heel USA, markets the product as a tablet that will provide temporary relief for men's “sexual weakness” and lack of stamina.
The U.S.-sold tablets contain 23 ingredients, including pig testicles, pig heart, pig embryo and pig adrenal gland, cortisone, ginseng and other botanicals. They also contain minerals.
Professor Charles Yesalis is an expert on steroid use in sports. Yesalis said than an athlete would have to take a huge amount of animal steroids in order for them to have any performance-enhancing effects.
It is unclear if Pistorius was taking the tablets while he was running in the Olympics. With the charge of murder hanging over his head after the Feb. 14 death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, it is probably a moot point
