Student Climbs 200-Year-Old Statue For Selfie, Breaks It

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

A student at a museum in Milan, Italy, climbed an early 19th Century statue to take a selfie with the “Drunken Satyr.” This ultimately caused its leg to fall off.

Staff at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, one of the world's premiere arts schools, discovered the destruction Tuesday morning.

The incident was caught on security cameras.

Luckily, the piece wasn’t one of the museum’s more valuable pieces. The satyr is a replica of an ancient Greek sculpture.

It is unclear whether the student will be disciplined – or if he got the shot before breaking the piece.
