This Street Preacher Has a List of Circumstances Under Which Women Deserve Rape

The Arizona pastor who notoriously preached that women “deserve” rape and that “yoga pants are sin” has continued his controversial spin in a new video, published on Monday.

Dean Saxton is a student at the University of Arizona; he preaches under the name Brother Dean Samuel.

Last month, Saxton protested outside a documentary about 1998 Miss World Pageant winner and rape survivor Linor Abargil.

In a recent interview with Vice, he defended his actions, saying, “[Abargil] is a beauty pageant contestant and there’s a lot of provocative, you know, seductive pictures of her that she has put out of herself.”

“I believe that if she was at home, and if she had kept to her Orthodox Jewishness, that rape would really probably not have happened,” Saxton stated.

At the protest, the self-proclaimed preacher held up a sign reading, “You Deserve Rape” and shouted to women to “give up your immodest clothing.”

In his Vice interview, the street preacher went on to enumerate “certain qualities that may be worthy of rape,” which included getting “blackout drunk” and “wearing really revealing clothing.”

According to Saxton, any woman who displays any of these qualities “is partially responsible for the rape.”

Saxton has also previously expressed that women shouldn’t be allowed to attend university, and that feminism is evil.

While filming the Vice interview, which was broadcast on April 5, Saxton also lashed out at LGBT people, pornography and evolution.

“The cost that you will have to pay and that anyone else who wants to do this will have to pay is that you won’t have very many friends at all,” he stated.
