A Texas stepmother allegedly punished her stepsons, aged 7 and 12, by forcing them to lick a dirty toilet and burned their tongues with a charcoal grill lighter.

Sara Anne Woody, 24, is facing 30 criminal charges. She also reportedly lashed at her stepsons' genitals with a belt, the Daily Mail reports.

The woman, who is currently pregnant, is being held in jail in lieu of $3 million bail. Her husband, Jonathan Darrell Woody, is also in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Jonathan admitted to knowing about the abuse but did nothing about it. He is now being charged with child endangerment and tampering with a witness, police say. Police accuse the father of a tampering charge because he told one of his sons to lie about a lip injury that eventually led to the arrests.

The Woodys' five children have been removed from the home and are staying with a relative.

This is not the first time an adult has abused a child in an unusual manner.

A California couple locked up two girls in their care, aged 5 and 10, inside a trailer for years, Business Insider reports.

Lester Louis Huffmire and Petra Huffmire, both in their 40s, were unemployed and played video games all day for years.

The children were forbidden from leaving the trailer and were not sent to school.

An investigation of the home in 2014 revealed "kitchen appliances covered in mold and cobwebs, stacks of trash, debris, mold and feces throughout the home, a pile of used condoms under a stuffed teddy bear and inoperable toilets," Orange County District Attorney reports say.

After a neighbor asked police to perform a welfare check, authorities found the children malnourished with damaged teeth.

The couple were arrested and currently spending time in prison having been convicted of "two felony counts of child abuse, two misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment, one misdemeanor count of contributing to delinquency of a minor, and sentencing enhancements for great bodily injury."
