A 2-year-old girl in Tacoma, Washington, was almost the victim of a kidnapping. It was the quick thinking of her two older sisters that saved her.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 5 p.m. when a man allegedly snuck up to the backyard fence of a home while the family’s three children were playing outside, Q13 Fox reported. When the 7- and 9-year-old sisters went into the house, the man then reportedly opened the gate and attempted to take the 2-year-old girl away.
“It happened so fast,” the mother told Q13 Fox. “I know she was holding onto the fence for dear life.”
The 2-year-old reportedly started screaming as she held onto the fence. Upon hearing the screams, the two older sisters came to their sibling’s aid, grabbing her arm while the man pulled at her legs. Eventually, the man gave up and fled the scene.

It was then that the girls told their mother what happened.
“They said, ‘Mommy, a man tried to pull her right out through the fence, just tried to pull her,'” the mother said.
“When I heard her screaming I thought she had fallen," the mother told the Bellingham Herald. "My mind didn’t instantly go to someone having the guts to open my gate in the middle of the day.”
According to the toddler, the man said “bye-bye” to her before taking off.

Several parents in the neighborhood are now concerned about their children’s safety.
“That kind of stuff doesn’t happen to me but it’s right here on our street in our neighborhood,” fellow parent Stephanie Ludwig told Q13 Fox.
According to police reports, the suspect is a black male around 5-foot-8. The man also had a beard but no mustache.
He was last seen sporting a black hooded sweatshirt, a beanie cap, jeans, and black boots.
