A mother of two is hoping a judge will grant her wish and legally change her first name to “Sexy.”
“I absolutely hate it,” Sheila Ranea Crabtree said of her birth name. “I think it’s really ugly.”
Crabtree, the mother of two teenage girls and who refused to publicly reveal her age, hates her birth name so much she is prepared with a second choice in case her first choice isn’t granted: “Sparkle.”
But she firmly believes “Sexy” is an appropriate name because she “wears Victoria’s Secret’ clothes all the time,” according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Crabtree, from Pataskala, Ohio, has been going by her middle name and has been counting down the days until she can appear in court to see if she can get her name changed.
She plans to go before Judge Robert Hoover in Licking County Probate Court and pay the fee of $87.
But Judge Hoover has been known to deny some name changes. He once denied a man’s request to change his name to “Tasmanian Devil.” He did, however, allow the first name “Taz.”
Five years ago he denied the request of a woman who rode a horse to the courthouse and walked in wearing a bathrobe. She said she was going to hold a Last Supper and poison her husband afterward. The woman requested her name to be changed to Jesus Christ Lord & Savior.
“I denied that because I wasn’t certain she was fully competent,” Hoover said.
Hoover did not comment on Crabtree’s case because he has yet to hear it in court, according to the Dispatch.
It’s hard to say whether the name Sexy will land on any top ten lists of strangest name changes. Daniel Knox-Hewson from England changed his name to Emperor Spiderman Gandalf Wolverine Skywalker Optimus Prime Goku Sonic Xavier Ryu Cloud Superman HeMan Batman Thrash.
His friend, Kelvin Borbridge, changed his name to Baron Venom Balrog Sabretooth Vader Megatron Vegeta Robotnik Magneto Bison Sephiroth Lex Luthor Skeletor Joker Grind.
