A Memphis, Tennessee, man was hit and killed by a trailer while reportedly watching porn — but that's not the strangest thing about the case.

Kevin Jordan, a 55-year-old violent sex offender, was walking down a sidewalk on Park Avenue in Memphis when he was hit by a runway trailer and killed.

"I think it is ironic that he was watching porn," dentist Dr. Peter Trimble said, according to Live 5 News. "And this dealt with some of the crimes he may have perpetrated." Trimble's office is nearby the area where Jordan was hit. A veterinarian whose office was also in the area told Trimble's wife, Sue, what she witnessed.

"She was telling us it looked like he was walking down the street, looking at his phone and the trailer hit him," Trimble told WMC Action News 5. "That was it."

Witnesses told Live 5 News that Jordan was watching porn on his cell phone when he was killed.

Jordan was convicted of several rapes in the early 1990s but turned his life around, his fiancee said.

"He had his life in order," Connie Harris said. Despite reportedly turning his life around, court records showed that he was arrested last year for indecent exposure.

"They [police] showed me his record and his last rape victim had been when he was 18 and then there were several more," the victim of that incident said.

Harris defended her fiance and the indecent exposure incident, saying that he was on dialysis at the time and was urinating, not exposing himself. Despite his past, however, she said he didn't deserve the way he died.

"It’s a big loss," she said. "I love him. I still love him."

Jordan, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the rapes, was released a few years ago for good behavior.

The man who hit Jordan was not charged in his death. An investigation is currently underway.

According to a 2015 report from Fox News, a large number of sex offenders are killed in California state prisons alone. Fifteen percent of the prison population in California is made up of sex offenders, but the offenders make up 30 percent of prison homicide victims.
