Security Guard Grzehorz Paczek Dives To Save Falling Baby At Poland Airport (Video)

A viral video shot in an airport shows a security guard taking a risky dive to save a baby from falling.

The incident took place on Nov. 23, but is just now being made public.

The video shows the father of the baby starting to take off his jacket while the baby sits on a luggage counter at the Katowice International Airport. The toddler falls and is inches away from the ground as security guard Grzehorz Paczek makes the save.

“I noticed the child was sitting on the table and he looked a bit off balance, and then he began to fall forward,” Paczek told The Telegraph. “I was standing four to five meters away and I realized I had no chance of stopping him fall [sic] so I just threw myself along the ground with my arms outstretched. It was an instinctive reaction.”

The baby was handed to the mother, who calmed her child down.

“This is a warning to all parents: you can never predict what a young child is going to do,” Cezary Orzech told The Telegraph. “But it also shows the airport staff not only check to see if anybody is carrying dangerous items but also care for the wellbeing of the passengers.”

The security guard was reportedly rewarded with a bonus for his act.

Considered a hero by many, Paczek still doesn’t think so.

“I don’t feel like I’ve done anything heroic,” Paczek said. “I’m just glad the child wasn’t hurt.”
