| by Michael Allen

The Curiosity rover landing on Mars recently made news, but so has the mohawk-wearing Bobak Ferdowsi, who works as the mission's flight director in Pasadena, California.

After the video of the landing aired, Ferdowsi was surprised to find hundreds of emails and Facebook friend requests, mostly from women, reports the Daily Mail.

SNL is not a fan of the Trump administration, and it shows with every new skit they produce. Do you think they need to tone it down?

Ferdowsi has also become very popular on Tumblr and Twitter, where his account has jumped from 200 to more than 33,000 followers.

According to Ferdowsi, the NASA team in charge of the Curiosity mission voted on the theme and colors of his hair in order to de-stress.

In response, Ferdowsi said: “If my mohawk gets a few more people excited about science and this mission, that’s awesome. That’s what it’s all about.”

Ferdowsi will remain the flight director for the NASA mission, so women can continue to enjoy the 'Mohawk Guy.'

However, his gawking admirers may not be aware that he has a girlfriend.

Ferdowsi told Buzzfeed.com: "She's awesome... She’s put up with me working a lot of long hours on this project, and I am definitely looking forward to things being calmed down a little bit so I can actually hang out with her."
