Sarah Palin Posts Disturbing Photo Of Herself With Slain Bear In Response To Piers Morgan Jibe

| by

A satirical “news” article about Sarah Palin last week sounded so believable that many media outlets fell for it and it led to a social media feud between Palin and CNN talk show host Piers Morgan. But the exchange resulted in another example of genuinely head-scratching behavior by the former half-term Alaska governor and “rogue” vice-presidential candidate.

The piece on the political satire site The Daily Currant reported on a supposed appearance by Palin on Fox and Friends in which she claimed (the story said) that Jesus celebrated Easter. The joke, for those who don’t get it, is that Easter is actually the celebration of the day Jesus, according to Christian tradition, rose from the dead. So for Jesus to have celebrated Easter in his lifetime makes no sense.

Anyway, Morgan apparently bought the article’s claims hook line and sinker. After all, from the moment she leaped into the national spotlight in 2008, Palin has made news with one odd statement after another. So why wouldn’t she misunderstand the meaning of Easter. Or so the thinking must have gone.

Morgan has long tried to get Palin to appear on his program, but she has refused. So he took what seemed like a good opportunity to tweak her, tweeting a link to the “Easter” article and adding, “And she’s back!”

In response, Palin Facebooked the below picture of herself with a dead bear.

Lying across the body of the deceased animal, which was presumably slain by Palin herself, a hunting rifle with telescopic sight. In violation of most every standard gun safety precaution, Palin positioned the rifle with its barrel pointing at herself.

She inscribed the Facebook photo with a handwritten note: “Piers, Kind of busy right now.”

Beneath the disturbing photo, Palin wrote: “"Oh dear Piers, thank you so much for all your invitations to appear on your shambolic show, including the adoring message you sent. But is it still any wonder why I've politely responded that I'm too busy doing, um, er... pretty much anything to accept the invite? (At least I didn't tell you to "get stuffed".) And to all our British friends: we ask, what did your friends across the pond ever do to you to deserve your Piers?"

Morgan has since responded by saying that he knew the Daily Currant article was fake, but found it “believable” anyway — and he still wants Palin on his show.
