Sarah Palin is facing backlash for photos she posted of her 6-year-old son, Trig, standing on top of a dog.
The former Alaska governor posted the photos as part of a New Year’s Day Facebook post intended on sending a message about stepping stones.
“May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward,” Palin’s post read. “Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!”, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.”

The post soon began to spread across the Internet, outraging many and sparking an animal rights debate on Palin’s page. Even some supporters of Palin objected to the photos.
“Not cool. The dog and your kid could be harmed,” one comment read. “No, No, No! I love you Sarah but not THIS,” another said. Some users called Palin irresponsible and insensitive, while others deemed it a form of animal abuse.
