Sarah Childs loves her holiday display. Her neighbors? Not so much.
Fortunately, that didn’t stop Childs from putting up her traditional holiday lights on the rooftop of her Denham Springs, La., home in the shape of a middle finger for a second year in a row.
This year, Childs upped her “holiday spirit” by putting up two middle fingers instead of the usual one.
Childs insists the second “flipping of the bird” is just retribution for all the calls from angry neighbors she has received since reinstalling the first middle finger Monday. One person even cut up her lights and extension cords into tiny pieces and left them on her lawn.

“They went on to my roof, cut them all up, cut everything up,” Childs told TheAdvocate.com “They did the firing shot. It’s on.”
She replaced the first finger and then added a second one.
“You know lots of people just resort to violence,” Childs told WWL.com. “Look at road rage, people flip each other offer all the time. I really don’t see what the big deal is.”
One very upset neighbor, Kayla Weldon, has battled Childs in the past, according to the Huffington Post. This year the two neighbors are back at it.

“She’s crazy! She thinks she’s going to get famous from all of this crap,” Weldon told the station.
Last year, Childs received help from the ACLU in her battle against city officials over the right to display her middle finger lights. Officials argued the lights should be considered “fighting words” and not “free speech.” But a judge granted Childs a restraining order preventing the city from removing the lights.
The city reached a settlement with Childs in January that allowed her to continue with the unique display.
While being flipped off irks many neighbors, it’s not the only reason why neighbors are upset. It turns out, Childs doesn’t even live there anymore. Childs’ house has been empty since she and her husband divorced.
“She doesn’t live there,” Todd Traylor, a neighbor, told TheInd. "I don’t even know why she’s back.”
