| by Dominic Kelly

The touching story of a family’s experience at a local Red Lobster restaurant has gone viral.

Reddit user “Coppin-it-washin-it” took to the social media site to share what a Red Lobster restaurant did to help his grieving mother. The user writes that his parents had a tradition to go on a date at their local Red Lobster restaurant every year on their anniversary, but this year, the tradition stopped after his father died of cancer. In order to keep the tradition going, the user’s sister took her mother to the restaurant, but when they went to pay, they received a touching note from the server.

“We are sorry to hear husband’s passing, but we appreciate your loyalty in spending 31 years of your anniversary with us,” writes the server Taylor on behalf of the restaurant. “For our appreciation, your meal is on us! We look forward to spending your next anniversary with us.”

Some users on Reddit questioned the authenticity of the note and story, but others shared similar experiences that they’ve had with the restaurant chain.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

“We had a fellow come into our Red Lobster a couple of months ago. He said that it was special because he and his wife ate there before she started her round of chemo a year ago. Unfortunately, she didn't beat cancer, but he went anyway to keep her memory alive,” wrote one user. “We paid for his meal and gave him a $25 gift card to show our appreciation of him spending his time with us, even though his wife couldn't join.”
