Waiter Writes N-Word On Receipts Of Black Customers (Video)

| by Michael Allen

A waiter at a restaurant in Pantego, Texas, wrote the N-word on four receipts that were given to six black customers who were celebrating New Year's Eve after attending a church service.

The N-word was followed by a number to keep track of the black customers, who were stunned by the notations.

“It’s sad that it’s still occurring,” customer Ta’les Russell told CBS Dallas (video below).

“We are here in the new year, starting fresh, celebrating with family and friends," added Russell. "This is the worst way to start, with everything going on in our society in Ferguson. It’s sad that we have to experience this still today in 2015.”

Shatila Lebanese Grill and Hookah manager Mike Salame gave the group a free meal and fired the waiter.

"I'm just sorry man … I'm just sorry," Salame told KHOU. "It's very very improper. There is no exceptions at all. That's why when I found out, on the spot, I terminated him … on the spot."

“We’re forgiving people. We’ve accepted their apologies,” Justyce Hill told CBS Dallas. “But it’s more about, you know, allowing it to happen in the first place. It wasn’t something that should have been tolerated. And it was something that should have been, you know, noticed right then and there.”

“They need to emphasize it to their staff,” added Jasmine Tucker. “They can let go our waiter, but what if the rest of their waiters are doing the same thing? They need to emphasize this is not okay.”
