Papa John’s Pizza Employee Leaves Racist Message on Customer's Cell Phone (Video)
A Papa John’s Pizza employee accidentally left a racist voice mail after butt-dialing an African-American customer on Sunday night in Sanford, Florida (video below).
After the customer posted the voice mail on YouTube, the Papa John’s Pizza store had received more than 300 angry calls in response.
“We were made aware of the video and it’s under investigation. We’re sorry that it happened,” said the Papa John’s Pizza manager who was identified only as "Keith," reports The Daily Dot.
On the video, the unidentified customer says that he tipped the driver 21 percent and then showed phone logs of the Papa John’s Pizza driver calling, not knowing he was being recorded.
“That’s the only requirement for being a n*gger in Sanford,” the Papa John’s Pizza driver tells his co-worker. “Yeah, they gave me five bucks there. Fine, outstanding African-American gentleman of the community.” He then sings a racist song with the "n-word."
“As an African-American in this community and also someone who has always tipped their delivery drivers 21 percent, I am disgusted entirely by this conversation,” the customer wrote on WorldStarHipHop.com. “Instead of focusing on ‘better ingredients’ and ‘better pizza,’ they should prioritize ‘better integrity’ and ‘better people’ on the top of their ‘to-do list.’”
The Papa John’s Pizza driver was reportedly fired.
