The Florida public works office in Volusia County was evacuated on Monday after a man attempted to pay his water bill with an envelope of crack cocaine.

Residents often drop off envelopes at the counter of the Deltona Water Office in order to pay bills. Employees discovered Monday that one of the envelopes contained a clear plastic baggie containing white powder. Police and the fire department were called to the scene.

The office was shut down while the county sheriff’s office examined the powder, which turned out to be three grams of crack cocaine.

Police are searching for the man who dropped off the envelope, who was riding a bike. Surveillance cameras did manage to capture his image as he left the scene.

The man made no statement when he left the envelope, nor was their any writing inside.
