Police are seeking the public’s help after a woman allegedly tried to kidnap an 18-month-old boy from a Kohl’s department store at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, Long Island, New York, on Dec. 11.

The mother posted on Facebook that she went to change her son’s diaper in the women’s restroom and a woman walked in and said, "He is a beautiful baby,” WNBC reported. The woman then allegedly began opening the bathroom stalls to see if they were alone, at which point the mother said she got a “horrible feeling in my chest and stomach that something was wrong."

She quickly gathered her things and tried to leave, but the woman demanded she give her the child. "I yelled, 'No. No. Stop,' and she grabbed my son's forearm and said again, 'Give me the baby,'" the mother wrote.

The mother, who has not been identified, reportedly hit the woman’s arm, shoved her away and went to Kohl's security, who then alerted the police. In an image released by WPIX, the suspect appears to be in her 40s and wore several layers of clothing.

The mother said the woman apparently was sent into the bathroom after her by a man in a suit, but that after the alleged incident they left in a taxi together.

None of the suspects have been identified.
