Piano Teacher Accused Of Touching Young Girls During Private Lessons Blamed His Behavior On Being Italian

A Connecticut music teacher, who is accused of sexually assaulting two underage students, allegedly justified his behavior by saying that he was Italian.

"Sorry, we Italians are very hands on people,” said 68-year-old Bruce Connery to a 15-year-old girl while he was teaching her piano in her own home.

Connery, of Monroe, Connecticut, was arrested after a different 10-year-old girl told her parents that he had inappropriately touched her during her private lesson.

"We had a 10-year-old that spoke with her parents and said she was being inappropriately touched by Mr. Connery, and then later on in the investigation, a 15-year-old, her family came forward with the same thing," said Monroe Police Lt. Brian McCauley to Eyewitness News.

The case of the 15-year-old girl is even more disturbing, as it appears the inappropriate touching went on for some time. The girl claims she tried to wear multiple coats during her lesson so that he would have a harder time getting underneath her shirt to touch her, but according to the affidavit, Connery would go right underneath the coats to touch her anyway.

“As the lessons progressed, he would 'shake and rub' her breasts under her shirt and bra,” police say the girl alleged.

After being arrested last week, Connery was officially charged with one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. He is expected back in court next week to plead the charges against him.
