Philadelphia Cop Threatens to Beat Teen for Looking Him in Eye (Video)

A video showing a Philadelphia police officer cursing and threatening an unidentified teen has gone viral.

The video (below), originally posted on Facebook on Oct. 17, shows the police officer following a group of teens carrying their book bags, reports

“Big man, do we have a problem?” the officer asks one of the teens, notes NBC Philadelphia. “Because I notice that you keep trying to make eye contact with me. Is there a problem?”

The teen's response is difficult to understand on the video, but the officer clearly replies with a physical threat.

"Well, keep f------- walking,” adds the officer. “The next time you look me in my f-------- eye, I’m gonna beat the s---- out of you!”

The Philadelphia Police Department has seen the video and said it is disciplining the officer, but won't say how. If a civilian threatens someone with physical violence, he or she is usually charged with a crime.

Oddly, NBC Philadelphia won't reveal the officer's name because he hasn't been charged with a crime. However, citizens who engage in threatening behavior are often identified.

"The video does not reflect well on the officer," said an unidentified Philadelphia Police official. "I have no doubt he had good reason to be exasperated, but you have to maintain your professional demeanor."

However, there is no evidence that the officer had "good reason" to be "exasperated."
