Petition Launched To Change Name Of Cracker Barrel Because It's 'Offensive'

| by Sean Kelly

A petition to change the name of popular restaurant chain Cracker Barrel went viral, with supporters calling for it to be renamed to “Caucasian Barrel.”

The petition, started by Iowa resident Ryan Koch, called on the restaurant to change its name because the word “cracker” is an offensive slur against European Americans.

“The name is offensive, their logo stereotypes European Americans as people who sit on chairs and lean against what appears to be a bourbon barrel, claiming we are all a bunch of alcoholics,” Koch wrote of the restaurant chain. “Sure, they'll SAY it's a 'cracker' barrel but everyone knows crackers don't come in barrels, they come in bags and boxes!”

The petition quickly went viral, garnering over 12,494 supporters thus far.

“Change the name C****er Barrel to Caucasian Barrel," Koch wrote. “After all, white people should have something to be offended by, too!”

Do you agree with the petition’s call for the restaurant to change its name?
