The family of a student who was the victim in a sex abuse case involving two Louisiana teachers in 2014 has sued for damages.

Shelley Dufresne and Rachel Respess, teachers at Destrehan High School, reportedly took the student, who was 16 at the time, to Respess' apartment after a football game. The teachers allegedly initiated a nine-hour threesome with the underage boy, according to the Independent Journal.

The teen, a football player, was a student in Dufresne's English class. Dufresne, a mother of three, was 32 at the time the alleged abuse took place, according to the Daily Caller. Respess was 23.

The suit seeks damages from the sexual relationship, the manner in which Dufresne reacted after the allegations came to light, and the emotional damage that the ordeal has put the family through.

Dufresne had initiated an inappropriate relationship with the student, according to the parents' lawsuit. The teacher had allegedly flirted with the boy in class, reportedly once kissing him in the classroom. When the student was absent from class one day, Dufresne texted him, which led to dozens of encounters over the next month. The pair allegedly had sex 40 times in 36 days.

"Dufresne encouraged [the student] to believe that responding to Ms. Dufresne’s attention and advances would impact his grade," read a court report.

Respess, who learned about the pair's relationship, failed to report what was going on and instead suggested that the three of them meet at her apartment after a football game.

Dufresne's felony charges for carnal knowledge of a juvenile remain unresolved. Respess' charges include failure to report a felony.

Dufresne, who taught at Destrehan High School for 10 years, permanently lost her teaching license. On separate but related charges, she managed to strike a plea bargain that led to her serving no jail time and avoid having to register as a sex offender. Dufresne's father is a Louisiana judge.

Dufresne is also reported to have posted on social media. criticizing her student victim, causing further "embarrassment and humiliation," according to the suit.

According to the Independent Journal, media outlets claimed that she gloated on social media about the plea deal. She posted an update that read, "Only God Can Judge Me. Everybody Makes Mistakes. Retired Teacher. Family Oriented."
